AntoinedeSaint-Exupéry(1900–1944)wasaFrenchwriterandpilot.Asayoungboy,hewasobsessedwithaeroplanes,ridinginoneforthefirsttimeattheageof12.Hespentmuchofhislifeflyingandwritingabouthisadventures.Saint-Exupéry’smostsuccessfulwork,TheLittlePrince,isoneofthebest-sellingbookseverpublished.Thestorywasprobablyinspiredbyhisplanecrashinthedesertin1935.Saint-Exupérynearlydied,andwanderedaroundforfourdaysbeforebeingrescued.In1944,Saint-ExupéryleftonawartimemissionoveroccupiedFrance,fromwhichheneverreturned.Althoughtheremainsofhisplanewerediscoveredin2000,Saint-Exupéry’sbodyhasneverbeenfound,andthecauseofhisdeathremainsunknown.
