IwasinthekitchenmakinglunchformyhusbandandhisbrotherswhenIsawmysix－year－oldson,Billy,walkingtowardthewoods.Icouldonlyseehisback.Hewasn’twalkinginhisusualway.Hewasobviouslywalkingwithagreateffort,tryingtobeasstillaspossible.Minutesafterhedisappearedintothewoods,hecamerunningoutagain,towardthehouse.Iwentbacktomakingsandwiches,thinkingthatwhateverhehadbeendoingwascompleted.Momentslater,however,hewasonceagainwalkinginthatunusualwaytowardthewoods.Thisactivitywentonforoveranhour:walkingcautiouslytothewoods,thenrunningbacktothehouse.Finally,mycuriositygotthebestofme.Icreptoutofthehouseandfollowedhimonhisjourney.

Hewascuppingbothhandsinfrontofhimashewalked,beingverycarefulnottospillthewaterhecarried.Ifollowedhimsecretlyashewentintothewoods.Branchesandthorns(刺)slappedhislittlefacebuthedidnottrytoavoidthem.Hemighthaveamuchgreaterpurpose,Ithought.AsIleanedintospyonhim,Isawthemostamazingsight.Severallargedeerappearedthreateninginfrontofhim.ButBillywalkedrightuptothem,atthesightofwhichIalmostscreamedforhimtogetaway.Ahugebuck(雄鹿)wasdangerouslyclose.Butthebuckdidn’tthreatenhimnorevenmoveasBillykneltdown.AndthenIsawababydeerlyingontheground,obviouslysufferingfromthirstandheat,liftitsheadwithgreatefforttolap(舔)upthewatercuppedinmybeautifulboy’shands.
