“Ittakesabout15minutestoplacetheorderandreceivethemeal.Alotofpeoplehavetriedthedronedeliveryservicehere,”saidawomanwhojusttookhermealboxoutfromthecabinet.
Duringtheyear2022,foodanddrinkssuchasnoodles,fruits,coffeeandmilkteaandevenflowershavebeendeliveredthroughMeituan’sdronedeliverysystem,thereportsaid.
Thecompanysaidthatasoflastyear,ithadcompletedover100,000dronedeliveries.Meituanstartedtoexploredronedeliveryservicein2017andstartedthetryinearly2021.Theservicehasanaveragedeliverytimeof12minutes,whichislessthantraditionaldeliverymethods,accordingtothecompany.
