OnOctober7th，1950，MotherTeresareceivedVaticanspermissiontostarttheMissionariesofCharityinCalcutta,themissionofwhichwouldbetotakecareoftheneedy,thehomeless,andpeoplewhowereshunnedbysociety.Thenithadanumberofbranchesalloverthecountry.ThejourneyofMotherTeresasMissionariesofCharitystartedwiththecreationofhomesfortheDying.

In1983，MotherTeresasufferedfromaseriousheartattackwhileshewasinRome.However,sherecovered.But,inlate1989,shegotanattackagain.Herconditionwentworseandin1991,shesufferedfrompneumonia.Takingherhealthproblemsintoconsecration，MotherTeresadecidedtoresign（辞职）.

AsecretvotewasconductedinwhichallthenunsvotedforthestayofMotherTeresaexceptherself.So，sheagreedtocontinueservingastheheadoftheMissionariesofCharity.Daybydayherhealthwasgettingworse.OnSeptember5th,1997,exactlytheninthdayafterher87thbirthday,thisgreatsouldepartedforheaven.
