Thisspecificationcoversthebasicrequirementsforablackcorrosionprotectivecoatingwhichisproducedbytheuse

ofthebulkelectrodepositionprocessor,ifthepartsdonotlendthemselvestobarrelprocessing,thepartsmaybe

rackedpriortotheelectrodepositionprocess.Theprocessincludestheapplicationofazincphosphatecoating,

non-chromicacidrinseorseal,electrodepositedblackorganiccoating,ovenbake,water/oilemulsionposttreatment

andairdry.GM6047CodeGprocessincludesazincphosphatecoating,non-chromerinseorseal,cathodic

electrodepositedblackorganicwithatorquemodifiedpostdip.

1.1Thisprocessisparticularlyeffectivewherethreadbuildupofpaintinrecessedareasisundesirableandalso

whereelongatedrecessedareasmustbeprotected.Thiscoatingissuitableforbolts,nuts,clipsandothersmall

ferrousornonferrouspartswhereabovenormalcorrosionprotectionoradhesion,freedomfromhydrogen

embrittlementanddecorativeblackcoloraredesired.

1.2Partsthatarenotsuitableforbarrelprocessingmayberackedbutmustbeprocessedthroughthesameblack

organiccoatingemployedinthebarrelprocess.

1.3ThecoatingsystemtothisspecificationshallbefreeofhexavalentchromateasperGMW3059requirements.
