Abstract:ApartialskullfromtheLowerKeuper(Middleonposteriorskulltable,withsingleprominenttuberclesris-
Triassic)ofGermanyisrecognizedasbelongingtoanewingfromridges.Phylogeneticanalysis?ndsplagiosauridsto
genusandspeciesofplagiosauridtemnospondyl.Itisreadilybemonophyleticwithinabroadrangeoftemnospondyls,
identi?edbythefollowingautapomorphies:(1)extremelynestingwithinacladeofshort-skulledstereospondyls.Plagio-
largeorbitsmediallyextendedtogiveverythininterorbitalsuchusisthemostbasalplagiosaurid,andPlagiosternum
regionandcheek;(2)posteriorskulltableabbreviated,withformsthesistergrouptothenewtaxon.Thebiologicalsig-
splint-likesupratemporals,postparietalsandparietals;(3)ni?canceofthelargeorbitsofplagiosauridsandtheirrela-
supraorbitallaterallinesulcusabsentonfrontal,withblindtionshipstotheeyeballsisdiscussed.Theonlytypeof
endingonparietal,andcontinuedattheanteriorma
