TaketheBeijing-Shanghaihigh-speedrailwayasanexample.Thedistancebetweenthesetwocitiesisabout1,300kilometers.Beforethehigh-speedrailwaywasbuilt,ittookaround10hourstotravelbetweenthem.However,withthehigh-speedrailway,thetraveltimehasbeenreducedtoabout4.5hours.ThismeansthatpassengerscantravelfromBeijingtoShanghaiandbackinasingleday,whichisunimaginableinthepast.
