ReadingAA.Studyalone.Byfarthemostpopularresponseat77%,theclearmajorityofoursurveyedstudentsheadtothelibrarytofocusontheirstudiesbythemselves.Tous,thisresponseshowsthat,nomatterwhatkindsofresourcesareofferedbythelibrary,itslearningspaceis(andwillprobablyalwaysbe)regardedasagreatplacetogetseriousaboutschoolwork.Italsomeansthat,duringpeakstudyperiods(suchasthefinalsweek),studentswoulddowelltogettothelibraryearlytosecurethestudyspotoftheirchoice!45
ReadingAB.Usetheonlinedatabases.Morethanhalf(51%)ofthestudentssaidthatthey’reatthelibrarytousetheonlinedatabases,indicatingthatagoodportionoftheirresearchworkiscompletedatthelibrary.Unfortunately,manystudentswilloftenfindthemselvesinfrontofaloomingdeadlineandaclosedlibrary.Orperhapstheycan’tmakeittothecampuslibraryforotherreasons(suchasparentingresponsibilities,alackoftransportationoptions,oraneedtotravelawayfromhome).Theycanaccesstheircollege’sdatabasesfromtheirowncomputer.Typically,allthey’llneedisInternetaccessandausernameandpassword.67
