Abstract
Inrecentyears,basedontheinherentcharacteristicsofopticalfibers(suchaslarge
transmissionbandwidthandfastsignaltransmissionrate),opticalfibercommunicationhas
developedrapidlyandhasbeenfavoredandfavoredbytheaerospaceindustry.Thishasledto
higherrequirementsfortheinsertionlossandreturnlossperformanceofopticalfiber
connectors.Thefiberconnectorendfacegrindingprocessdirectlyaffectstheinsertionlossof
opticalfiberconnectors,whichisofgreatsignificanceforfurtherimprovingthetransmission
performanceofopticalfibercommunicationsystems.
Thetwoimportantparametersthatsignificantlyaffecttheperformanceoffiberoptic
signaltransmissionareinsertionlossandreturnloss.Intheproduction,processing,and
manufacturingprocessoffiberopticconnectors,unreasonableprocessingmethodsand
inaccurategrindingprocessparameterscancauseadecreaseinthegrindingqualityofthe
fiberopticconnectorendface,reducingtheopticalperformanceofthefiberopticconnector.
Inresponsetothisphenomenon,theresearchcontentofthisarticleisasfollows:
(1)Adetailedanalysiswasconductedonthefactorsthataffectthegrindingprocess.By
optimizingthegrindingprocessoffiberopticconnectorsandusingexperimentalmethodsthat
controlvariables,thegrindingtime,grindingrate,sandpaperparticlesize,grindingpad
hardness,andtemperatureduringthegrindingandpolishingprocessoffiberopticconnectors
werechanged.Theeffectsoffivefactorsonthesurfaceshapeparametersofzirconiaceramic
insertpinswereanalyzed,andexperimentalresearchwasconductedtoanalyzetheregularity
ofthegrindingandpolishingprocessonthesurfaceshapeofceramicinserts.Thereasonsfor
excessiveinsertionlosswereidentified;
