Goodmorning/afternoon,esteemedteachers,dearparents,andmyfellowfifthgraders.Today,Istandbeforeyoutosharewithyouamessagethatisclosetomyheart–thepowerofdreamsanddetermination.Aswenavigatethroughthefifthgrade,ayearfilledwithnewchallengesandopportunities,itiscrucialforustounderstandthatourdreamsandourunwaveringdeterminationarethekeystooursuccess.
Letmebeginbyaskingyouaquestion:Whatisadream?Adreamisavisionofwhatwewanttoachieveinourlives.Itisagoalthatwestrivefor,adreamthatweholdclosetoourhearts.Dreamscomeinallshapesandsizes–theycanbeassimpleaswantingtobethebestinourclassorasgrandasaspiringtobeascientist,anartist,orevenanastronaut.
Now,letstalkaboutdetermination.Determinationisthestrengthandresolvethatweneedtoturnourdreamsintoreality.Itistheinnerfirethatkeepsusgoingwhentheroadgetstough,whenwefacesetbacks,andwhenwefeellikegivingup.Determinationiswhatseparatesthedreamersfromthedoers.
Iwanttosharewithyouastorythatillustratesthepowerofdreamsanddetermination.ItisthestoryofayounggirlnamedMalalaYousafzai.MalalawasborninPakistanandgrewupinasmallvillage.Fromayoungage,shehadadream–toeducateherselfandtohelpothergirlsinhervillagedothesame.Despitethethreatsanddangersthatshefaced,Malalaremaineddeterminedtopursueherdream.
In2012,whenshewasjust15yearsold,MalalawasshotbytheTalibanforadvocatingforgirlseducation.Insteadoflettingthisincidentbreakherspirit,Malalausedherdeterminationtofightback.Shesurvivedtheattackandwentontobecomeaglobaladvocateforeducation.Today,MalalaisaNobelPeacePrizelaureateandasymbolofhopeformillionsofchildrenaroundtheworld.
