3.APPLICATION.
TheCrossThreadPrevention(CTP)pointisdesignedtoreduceoreliminatecrossthreadinginproblem
applicationswhereboltsarepowerdrivenwithhandheldtoolsintofixednutsorthreadedholes.Theuseof
theCTPpointdoesnotreplacetheneedtofollowgooddesignandassemblypractices.
4.GENERALREQUIREMENTS.
4.1DIMENSIONSANDTOLERANCES.
ThedimensionsandtolerancesofboltswithCrossThreadPrevention(CTP)pointsmustbein
accordancewithTable1andFigure1.Thedimensionsandtolerancesarebasedonsuccessful
testingandproductiontrials.TheeffectivenessoftheCTPpointissignificantlyreducedwiththe
additionofpaintclearingfeaturesandisnotrecommended.Alldimensionsandtolerancesdefinedin
thisspecificationapplypriortotheapplicationofanyprotectivefinishexceptwhereotherwise
specified.
